The German city of Aachen is known for its cathedral, although there is also another popular attraction there. The Elisenbrunnen is a fountain which has dispensed the city's famous healing waters since 1827, although the Neo-Classical building there today is a reconstruction as the original was destroyed in WW II.
The water is still drunk today for its healing properties. Two fountains outside the building maintain the water temperature at 52 degrees, although drinking the water straight from the fountain is actually forbidden because of the chemicals in it.
The city's other main sight, the huge 8th century cathedral is a few minutes walk away.
