De Haar Castle is the largest castle in Holland. It is located in Utrecht, Netherlands, which is about an hour and a half from Amsterdam. Originally built in 1391, the castle was restored in 1892 by Dutch architect Pierre Cuypers in a Neo-Gothic architectural style. Visitors can expect to see a beautiful castle and grounds.
It has 200 rooms and 30 bathrooms. For its time period, it had modern equipment such as electrical lighting and a generator. It is decorated with things such as cast iron, woodcarvings, Chinese porcelain, Flemish tapestries and religious paintings.
Surrounding the park is a beautiful chapel and a French styled-formal garden complete with waterworks.
