Constructed in 1666, Confucius Temple was the highest official seat of higher studies in Tainan, Taiwan.
It was the first Confucius temple built in Taiwan and is considered the first real center of education in the country. The temple has seen more than thirty reconstructions till now after being destroyed by natural disasters and wars in its over 350-year old existence.
Today, the temple serves as an important historical place where ancient tradition is carefully preserved for future generations to know better the past of the nation.
Several cultural relics of the earlier years are still kept perfectly here and is worth visiting.
