Rich with activities and wonders for travelers of every age, Chapultepec Park and Zoo is both the largest public park in Mexico City, and Mexico‘s best-known zoo.
Situated just on the edge of the Montezuma game reserve, the zoo houses over 2,000 specimens of approximately 280 different animal species. The entire compound covers 33 acres of land and showcases its animals in Victorian-style cages. This location specializes in hippopatmuses and hoofed stock, but it additionally houses giant pandas. In fact, this is the only zoo outside of Asia to have successfully bred pandas in captivity.
The park sees its greatest amount of traffic on Sunday when locals and tourists arrive to travel the lake in rowboats, host picnics, and visit the museum. There is even a large amusement park for children.
