Castello di Donnafugata in the province of Ragusa on the island of Sicily is a fully restored castle with a white facade and a Venetian Gothic loggia.
The castle is one of the locations used in the filming of the Commissario Montalbano TV series as the home of Mafia boss Balduccio Sinagra. Although parts of the castle date from the 14th century, most of the exterior has a neo-classical and neo-Gothic architecture dating from the 19th century.
Several legends involve the meaning of the castle's name. The site was originally called "Ayn As Jafat" by the Arabs who found a freshwater fountain there.
