Still Africa's tallest office building at 223 meters, Carlton Tower is located in downtown Johannesburg, South Africa.
It was opened in 1973 and designed by the American company often credited with designing the first glass and steel skyscrapers. An underground shopping center has over 150 shops and is connected to what was once the five star Carlton Hotel, while the building itself is home to offices and shops.
The skyscraper's top floor is known as the Top of Africa, and provides one of the best views of the city and the countryside beyond.
