Cardiff Castle in the center of Cardiff, Wales, is one of the most spectacular historic buildings in the country.
This site has been in use for approximately 2,000 years, beginning as a Roman fort. Later, the Normans occupied the site, followed by succeeding lords and rulers who expanded the fortress. Eventually, the property was taken over by the Bute family, who were exceedingly wealthy because of the success of their coal business.
They hired the finest architects and artisans to build and transform the castle into the stunning Neo-Gothic building it is today. Today the castle is often hired for use as a venue for occasions such as weddings and corporate events.Places nearby:
