The Cango Caves are home to the most beautiful stalactite formations in the entire African continent. Discovered in the 18th century by a Dutch farmer, the caves are South Africa's oldest natural attraction.
Cave tours are available daily. The tour takes you through the main parts of the cave, past large caverns and tunnels with interesting names like Lumbago Valley, Devil's Chimney, and Van Zyl's Hall.
Van Zyl's Hall is one of the biggest caverns in this system at 50 meters wide and 18 meters high. The cavern next to Van Zyl's hall is also another popular attraction with its pipe organ formations and crystal waterfall. Other interesting formations worth a look include Cleopatra's Needle and the Ballerina.
