If you wish to get a genuine feel of Bali, resplendent in all its natural glory, the Campuhan Ridge Walk at Ubud is just for you. The trek is an easy one, and best enjoyed in the early morning or late afternoon hours. The nine kilometer concrete track begins from the main road, and is quite simply marked with a sign that says that it goes to the hill.
Your ridge walk will take you over the Campuhan River and towards the temple complex of Pura Gunung Lebah. You will walk past intricately carved shrines and soon the path will meander through stretches of tall reed grass that seem to extend till the horizon. Soon the grass gives way to the paddy fields of the Bangkiang Sidem village.
You may wish to stop here to take in the idyllic views. If you are up for it, you could continue to trek on to the Sungai Cerai River and up the hills that lie beyond it.
