Created in the 1880s the Jequitibás Forest is a park located in the Central Region of Campinas.
It is one of the oldest and largest leisure areas in the city. Nearly one million people visit this locale, covering an area of approximately 10 hectares, every year.
Until the end of the nineteenth century the whole region where today is the Bosque dos Jequitibas was known as Campo das Caneleira and belonged to Francisco Bueno de Miranda.
In 1880, Miranda decided to make the place a popular playground. He entrusted the job to architect Ramos de Azevedo who undertook the project that gave the area the concept of an English garden.
