Located on Mount Agung's south-western slopes, Besakih Temple is basically a massive complex comprising more than 80 shrines and clan temples.
Due to the number of shrines and their separate anniversaries, the complex is a hub of celebrations and events almost throughout the year. Besakih is Bali's holiest and biggest temple and its high altitudes mean solid countryside views with hills, mountains, rice paddies and streams galore.
Thanks to the grandness of the temple, you would need at least a day to fully take in the splendour of the place. Also, the temple is open to all people irrespective of their religion or caste.
