Famous for being the world's first university museum the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology is located in the historic university city of Oxford in England.
It was founded in 1678 and today is a treasure house of fine art and archaeological items. Some of the highlights include a valuable Stradivarius violin, Oliver Cromwell's death mask, a significant collection of Biblical manuscripts and an extensive Egyptian collection.
