One of the largest churches in Europe, Alexander Nevski Cathedral is as much a tourist attraction as a place of worship.
It was built in the Neo-Byzantine style in the late 19th century in Sofia, Bulgaria's capital and can accommodate 5,000 worshippers.
The interior is notable for its decorations of Brazilian onyx and Italian marble, and the church also has a large collection of Bulgarian icons. Relics of Alexander Nevsky, one of the Princes of Kiev can be seen in a case.
