An estimated million kilos of fresh produce are sold every month at the Adelaide Central Market, one of the largest in the southern hemisphere.
It's also one of the oldest markets in Australia, established in 1869 and today attracting over 10 million visitors every year. The over 1,000 stalls sell everything from fruit and vegetables to baked goods, cheese, seafood and health foods.
The market is also home to some of the city's most popular places to eat and on nearby Moonta Street is Adelaide's Chinatown offering dozens of restaurants, cafes and specialty shops. The market hosts cooking demonstrations, music evenings and other events.Places nearby:
