The Adana Merkez Park is located in the Turkish city of Adana. Spread across 82 acres of land, the urban park stretches along both banks of the Seyhan River. With such an idyllic location, it is not surprising that the park is immensely popular with both locals as well as tourists.
Merkez is the Turkish word for central. This central park, situated in the heart of the Adana, was added to the city plan in 1988. It required a fair amount of planning and relocation of existing structures such as the central bus terminal.
The landscaped park has over 400,000 plants of over 100 species of flora. These include trees, bushes and cactus. There is a large playground for children, a skating rink, and jogging and cycling paths. Close to the quay, in the northern part of the park is an amphitheater. It is a popular venue for concerts and events.
