Abay Park, named after Abay Kunanbayuly, a famous 19th-century poet in Kazakhstan, is a cultural and recreational center in the city of Shymkent.
Sprawled across 52 hectares, the densely forested park has several nature trails and is a wonderful place for quiet walks. The park is also home to a large war memorial dedicated to the thousands of heroes who had sacrificed their lives during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).
The park also hosts museums and fun activity centers for children and adults alike. There are several fast food shops and cafes too in the park where visitors can relax with food and drinks.
